Share to spread ocean love!

You know those moments that feel like you’re doing what you were meant to do?

For me, it’s not only when I get to experience the ocean, but share it with others.

That’s what kept me looking forward to every day I spent for over a decade teaching marine science to grades PreK-12 in schools + a coastal science center.

And now, it’s pure joy for me to share my love for the ocean beyond a single classroom, through my company Living Porpoisefully and making class visits. I’m so excited to share this latest one with you, along with goodies that you can use too. Enjoy!

The Dance + Read-Aloud

Last week, I read the first book Rett and I created Zale’s Tales: The Quest for the Magic Pearl (ages 4-8) to an amazing group of pre-kindergarten kids.

We made a celebration of it and danced like ocean creatures too!

We had so much fun with our scuba masks + imaginary fins. And we all tossed magic dust to help the main character, Zale, transform (*POOF*) into ocean animals.

The Story

In Zale’s Tales: The Quest for the Magic Pearl, a boy named Zale finds a magic pearl on the beach that transports him into the ocean. It changed him into a sailfish! The pearl slips from his grasp, and he transforms into all kinds of ocean animals to try and find it.

Rett and I packed the book with all kinds of marine animals, and many of the kids liked the giant squid the best.

The Video

Rett was there too, my amazing supporter, co-author/illustrator + photographer.  He captured these happy photos + video.

Watch below for lots of smiles + good vibes (the happy energy from the kids is contagious), see us dance like sea creatures, and there’s also a flip-through of the book:

Love the Ocean Motion video we danced to + the bookmark? Here’s how to get it:

Sign up here to join the email pod, and we’ll send it as a pod-only perk to your email.

We’ll also send you a game + printable bookmark that I made to give each little explorer. (If you’re a kid, have your adult sign up.)

When you sign up, look for the email in your inbox.

Then, simply download the file that’s in the email, print, cut, and punch a hole if you’d like to add a ribbon. Since there are 2 on a page, you can have an extra or share with a friend.

Be sure to check your junk or spam folders for the welcome email. Add us to your contacts (TheTaylors@LivingPorpoisefully.com) or drag the email to your primary folder (gmail) so you don’t miss our weekly emails.

Fun bookmarks are a great way to encourage + reward reading, no matter the age. The message of the bookmark says:

“The ocean is magical. Treasure + protect it.”

That idea is what all of our work here at Living Porpoisefully aims to spread.

If you’re teaching an ocean unit or marine biology class, this bookmark + video are a fun way to help celebrate the ocean. I hope these all bring a splash of fun, and I know you’re going to love our weekly pod content!

Live with porpoise,
