You’re probably well aware of the plastic nightmare in our oceans.
As a marine science teacher, it broke my heart to teach students about the harsh realities of plastic pollution, among other environmental issues.
I dreamed of making a difference to help shift to a more connected & purposeful world that cares for the Earth.
So, I started Living Porpoisefully and now that we offer eco-friendly + sustainable products, it only makes sense that we package them with porpoise — not plastic, right?
We’re passionate about living with porpoise by sharing ocean love + waves of positivity through everything we do, while treading gently on the environment. From our DIY crafts made from recycled materials to the eco-friendly goods we offer in our online shop, we believe in doing what we can to help shift things to a more sustainable, mindful way of living.
In celebration of plastic-free July, I’ve made a video to give you a sneak peek into our porpoiseful packaging, and talk about why we’re so passionate about this. (We’ve also got a text version, just scroll down below the video to read.)
- What’s Plastic Free July? It’s month to raise awareness to help reduce plastic pollution and waste.
Not only is what we offer eco-friendly + sustainable, but we’ve also added beautiful and heartfelt touches that help make it a joyful experience!
Let’s take a peek…

What Does “Packaged with Porpoise” Mean?
“Packaged with porpoise” means we’ve thought through each detail and chosen packaging to ensure that they serve their purpose while being kind to the environment and the recipient. Here are our standards (both outer + inner packaging):
- Plastic free
- Recyclable + recycled + biodegradable
- As compact + lightweight as possible:
- lightest/smallest size package always chosen
- mailers chosen before boxes
- A little something special (personalized!)

1. Plastic free
Opting for plastic free packaging came down to our love for sea turtles & other marine life that could potentially encounter and eat the plastic. It made us heartsick to think that anything our apparel and goods are packaged in could end up harming the life we seek to protect.
As you’re probably well aware, plastic is a huge environmental issue especially for ocean life. From bags to tiny pieces, the ocean has become plastic soup that looks like food to marine animals. It’s a heartbreaking norm that most marine life has plastic in their belly that wreaks havoc on their insides.
So, we’ve chosen plastic-free packaging only:
- Outer packaging: 100% recycled paper mailers or boxes
- Inner packaging: 100% recycled tissue paper, paper bags and paper fill when needed
- Hang tags are printed on 100% recycled paper and have a biodegradable string
While we use different sources for each different packaging need, for our outer packaging we love that EcoEnclose offers beautiful 100% recycled mailers and custom-sized boxes, as well as 100% recycled tissue paper and other packing supplies like recyclable plastic-free tape.
(By the way, this is NOT a sponsored post nor are we getting any compensation or free products. We’re just sharing what we’re passionate about.)
2. Recycled + recyclable + biodegradable
We believe in conserving and preserving our natural resources. By supporting practices that make use of materials that would otherwise end up in landfills, we are helping to conserve and protect forests.
We pay attention to the percentage and post-consumer content too — always choosing the highest available percentage and post-consumer recycled content.
You can recycle our packaging in your bin curbside! So simple.
And if recycling isn’t offered in your area, at the very least the packaging will biodegrade and won’t harm marine life.
3. Compact + lightweight as possible
A smaller package means less materials used and less space needed for shipping (and less waste!). To help minimize carbon emissions from shipping, we choose the lightest and smallest size package, and choose lightweight paper mailers over boxes when possible.
On a similar note, we also opt for shipping methods that are easier on the environment. It may take a few more days than you’re used to, but we think you’ll find it’s worth the wait!
4. A little something special
To us, living with porpoise means there’s joyful meaning in life that should be celebrated. We want you to feel that glow & good vibes while diving into your package!
From our carefully rolled tees, sweatshirts & hoodies that are tied with paper raffia, to customizing our packaging with non-toxic inks, we’ve thoughtfully crafted each detail.
And that includes a personalized message and a little gift we pick out based on what you ordered. But we won’t spoil the surprise by giving any more details!
Of course, the products are a treasure themselves: luxuriously soft apparel, quality recycled card stocks (stationery), Italian sunglasses made from recycled fishing nets, and porpoiseful accessories to fit your lifestyle.
And our unique logo and art designs are truly one-of-a-kind expressions that Rett and I designed together.
We hope you can feel the love & care we’ve put into all we offer as a small, family owned business.
We’re grateful for your support that helps spread ocean love, conservation, and good vibes!
Live with porpoise,
Eve + Rett
