Mermaid on a mission
You and I have one thing for sure in common. We both breathe oxygen that came from the sea, and it’s over half your daily intake.
That’s right. At least 1 out of 2 breaths comes from plant-like sea critters.
I’ve always loved the ocean, and feel a surge of joy whenever I’m in or near it (beach walking, kayaking, paddle boarding, shelling, whale watching, snorkeling)…
But it wasn’t until later that it hit me how vital healthy oceans are to all life on Earth.
As I spent over a decade teaching marine science to kids of all ages, I dreamed of reaching beyond the classroom to share a love for the sea + connect others to it too.
Sharing ocean love became my purpose (well…porpoise)! I teamed up with my (mer)man and together we’ve created:
- an online eco-boutique
- 5+ ocean children’s books (Eve+Rett = Everett Taylor)
- tons of educational resources + DIY crafts that reach around the globe

Yep, we’re authors + illustrators too! Our pen name is Everett Taylor and so far we’ve created 5+ children’s books:
Rett draws everything, both Eve + Rett paint the sea life, and Eve paints the backgrounds. We use actual paper, pencil + paint!

I really love your blog! You have been an inspiration in creating an ocean themed classroom. Today I began purchasing some of the items I will use in my classroom next year! 🙂 I am from Florida currently living in Colorado. I have to say that I miss my warm weather and palm trees.
